Bar & House Manager
The successful applicant will be responsible for the management, development and administration of our bar, as well as security throughout our premises and an involvement with regular student events.
The Union is run by an elected board of student members, who, together with a permanent administration staff, make up the infrastructure of the organisation. This creates a vibrant and energetic atmosphere to work in, where no two days are the same.
The role includes the profitable management and control of the bar facilities, the organisation of bar services for other events within the Union, the supervision and security of the Union premises & liaison with local authorities with regards to security for debates, special events and visits by international dignitaries. Other responsibilities include sourcing & managing relevant suppliers, stock & finance control using EPOS system, staff recruitment and management, ensuring profitability & maintaining health & safety standards.
We are looking for candidates with excellent interpersonal and communication skills, as the role requires interaction with a diverse range of individuals. Applicants should be enthusiastic, self motivated, creative & have a good foundation in developing and growing food and beverage businesses, such as pubs, bars or hotels, with an appreciation of broader house management.
Normal hours of work vary widely between term-times and vacation times. In term-time the Bar/House Manager will be required to attend 6 evenings per week, and at least 2 half days for admin purposes, but will be expected to work as reasonably necessary for the performance of his/her duties.
An SIA certification is desirable.
