H.E Dilma Rousseff CANCELLED
- Event Start: 23rd May 2017, 1:00pm
- Event Type:
Disappointingly, Ms Rousseff is unable to travel out of the country at the moment due to recent developments, so has unfortunately been forced to cancel this event, as well as her visit to the Hay Festival and the University of London.
Dilma Rousseff, Brazil’s 36th President, started in politics as a Marxist guerrilla fighting the 1960s dictatorships, for which she was imprisoned. She went on to work in economics, state politics and as President Lula’s Chief of Staff. During her five year administration, she furthered the socially and economically progressive policies of her Workers’ Party. In August 2016, Dilma was impeached for allegedly violating budgetary laws, a charge which she vehemently denies, calling her removal a “legislative coup d’état”.
