No Confidence Debate

This House Has No Confidence in Her Majesty's Government

Following the loss of the Conservative majority last June and the divisive Chequers Plan, pressure has steadily mounted on Theresa May's government.  With the Labour Party in disarray over allegations of widespread antisemitism and the Liberal Democrats struggling to recover their former influence, the current relevance of such a debate is undeniable.  Can Her Majesty's Government be trusted to ensure the stability the nation so desperately needs?

  • Nia Griffith MP  :  Welsh Labour MP currently serving as Shadow Secretary of State for Defence and previously as Shadow Secretary of State for Wales
  • Richard Burgon MP  :  Shadow Lord Chancellor, Shadow Secretary of State for Justice, and MP for Leeds East

Speakers in Opposition:

  • Sam Gyimah MP  :  Conservative MP currently serving as Minister of State for Universities, Science, Research & Innovation.  President of the Oxford Union in Michaelmas 1997
  • Brandon Lewis MP  :  Conservative MP serving as Chairman of the Conservative Party and as Minister Without Portfolio since January 2018

Prior to this debate, the Emergency Debate will be held at 7.45pm on a motion to be decided at this week's Consultative Committee
