Silk Road Panel  :  "The Future of Central Asia"


For millennia, this region has been the geographic, economic and cultural pivot of Eurasia.  These countries have, in the 27 years since the collapse of the USSR, used their sovereignty to plan an important role in international affairs, especially in economic development and security.  It is our pleasure to host the most senior diplomatic representatives in the United Kingdom of the Republics of Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan, for a discussion on their perspectives on the future of Central Asia


Panel:

  • Hotam Qurbonov  :  Chargé d'Affaires of the Embassy of Tajikistan and acting Head of Mission.  He was appointed to this position in October 2017
  • Erlan Idrissov  :  Ambassador of Kazakhstan to the United Kingdom since February 2017, he was previously the country's Foreign Minister
  • Gulnara Iskakova  :  Ambassador of Kyrgyzstan since August 2015, she was previously the country's Permanent Representative to the United Nations
  • Yazmurad Seryaev  :  Ambassador of Turkmenistan, and one of the youngest heads of diplomatic mission in the United Kingdom
  • Alisher Shaykhov  :  Ambassador of Uzbekistan since July 2017, previously Chairman of the Chamber of Commerce and Minister of Foreign Economic Relations of Uzbekistan
