Nobel Laureate Physicist

Widely renowned for his work on the mass of subatomic particles, Professor Peter Higgs is a British theoretical physicist who is currently an emeritus professor at the University of Edinburgh.  Higgs proposed his main theory regarding subatomic particles in the 1960s which was confirmed only in 2012 when CERN announced the discovery of the Higgs boson at the Large Hadron Collider.  In 2015, Higgs was awarded with the Copley Medal, the world’s oldest scientific prize, by the Royal Society
