Motion: This House Believes The United Kingdom Should Leave the European Union. PROPOSITION Dominic Hopkins-Powell, Standing Committee, New College: First-year German & Italian student at New College, and currently a member of the Union's Standing Committee. Daniel Hannan MEP, Oriel College: Conservative Member of the European Parliament since 1999, and Secretary-General of the Alliance of European Conservatives and Reformists. He is also a journalist for The Telegraph and a best-selling author. Baroness Jones of Moulsecoomb AM: Green Member of the London Assembly since its creation in 2000 until May 2016. She was the Green candidate for Mayor of London in 2012, coming third, and was Deputy Mayor of London 2003–2004. Lord Howard of Lympne CH PC QC: Leader of the Conservative Party 2003–2005, Home Secretary under Sir John Major, and former Shadow Chancellor and Shadow Foreign Secretary. He is an Ex-President of the Cambridge Union Society (Easter 1962). OPPOSITION Nikolay Koshikov, Treasurer, Exeter College: Second-year PPE student at Exeter College, and currently the Union's Treasurer. Alex Salmond MP: Scottish National Party MP for Gordon since 2015. As First Minister of Scotland 2007–2014, he headed the campaign for Scottish Independence, and was leader of the SNP for over 20 years. Yvette Cooper MP, Balliol College: Labour MP for Normanton, Pontefract and Castleford since 1997. She served as Shadow Home Secretary until 2015, resigning from the post when she lost the Labour leadership election to Jeremy Corbyn. Lord Heseltine CH PC, Ex-President, Pembroke College: Conservative stalwart who served as Deputy Prime Minister under Sir John Major, and Secretary of Defence under Margaret Thatcher.
