How to get involved
If you're interested in getting involved with the Oxford Union, there are a number of ways to do so.
Firstly, you can participate in debates
Debates take place every Thursday at 20:30 during Term in the Chamber. They cover a range of subjects, and allow you to challenge world experts and voice your opinions on topical issues. Also, prior to each debate, an Emergency Debate is held on a motion decided each week, at which members are can practise their debating.
For those interested in honing their debating skills and participating in debating competitively, workshops are held in the Union every Sunday at 18:30.

Apply for a position on our large Appointed Committee
Applications for the following term's appointed positions will open around 5th-7th Week each term. Applications for MT21 positions are now open, and will close 5pm on Friday 4 June 2021. For further details, CLICK HERE.
Roles range from contributing to the invitation process and arranging debates, to improving access and representation, helping with publicity, or assisting with the Union's finances.

Elect committee members
All Officers and committee members are elected by you, the Members, on Friday of 7th Week each term. Aspiring committee members are required to make a number of speeches in Thursday evening debates, depending on the position for which they are running.
Nomination packs can be picked up in the General Office from 5th Week. The deadline for nominations in Friday of 6th Week. For more information please contact the Returning Officer.
