This House Believes Feminist Movements Disregard Minority Women

Speakers in Proposition:

  • Baroness McGregor-Smith CBE  -  The only Asian female CEO in the FTSE 250 when she took over Mitie Group in 2007, she has been a trailblazer for women in business
  • Minna Salami  -  Best known for her blog MsAfropoilitan focusing on African feminist issues, her articles have been featured in The Guardian and The Huffington Post

Speakers in Opposition:

  • Sophia Cannon  -  An experienced barrister with a range of skills and expertise, she specialises in family law, dedicated to child protection.  She was also a Trustee of the Women's Resource Centre, the umbrella body for women's organisations in the UK
  • Judy Cheng-Hopkins  -  Currently adjunct professor at Columbia University but was for the last five years of her long UN career, the Assistant Secretary-General in charge of Peacebuilding.  Prior to that she was the UN's Assistant High Commissioner for Refugees
