President Fischer served as the 11th President of Austria from 2004 to 2016, having previously been a legislator and President of the National Council, drawing support from a wide range of political affiliations, and winning a landslide 79% of the vote in 2010.  He is well regarded internationally, holding high-ranking honours from a range of European democracies
