Unfinished Business:  Gender  Inequality in the 21st Century

As of 2019, only six countries can boast of having total equality in legal rights between men and women.  Despite changing public perceptions about the importance of gender equality, women and men cannot truly be equal until the law affords them equality of opportunity.  In a world in which the fight towards gender equality is often viewed as already won, it is more important than ever to recognize the legal barriers women continue to face in their day-to-day lives.  In the words of Hilary Clinton, "the rights of women and girls are the unfinished business of the 21st Century"

  • Harini Iyengar  :  Iyengar is a barrister, author of A Practical Guide to the Law of Gender Pay Gap Reporting, and the Women's Equality Party's No 1 GLA 2020 List Candidate
