Chua is an American lawyer, academic and writer who currently teaches at Yale Law School.  After graduating from Harvard College and Harvard Law School, Chua started practising corporate law before moving into academia, teaching first at Duke Law School before moving to Yale in 2001. In 2003, Chua published her first book, the New York Times Bestseller World on Fire : How Exporting Free Market Democracy Breeds Ethnic Hatred & Global Instability.  Chua’s third book, Battle Hymn of The Tiger Mother is a semi-autobiographical book about her childhood and her mother’s strict, Confucianist parenting style.  It was an international success, becoming a bestseller in the United States, the UK, mainland Europe, China and several other East Asian countries;  it has since been translated into over 30 languages
