Guha is an Indian writer and historian, who authored an acclaimed two-volume biography of Mahatma Gandhi.  In November 2020, he published his new book The Commonwealth of Cricket: A Lifelong Love Affair With The Most Subtle and Sophisticated Game Known to Humankind.  Ramachandra Guha was also actively involved in India’s political life;  a vocal dissenter of Prime Minister Modi’s citizenship law that discriminated Muslims, he was arrested in 2019 during a protest
